Trainer Biographies



Carol Brown, RN, Health and Wellness Consultant

With over 35 years of experience working in the health care field, a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Augsburg College, and a Master in Allied Health Education degree from the College of St. Thomas, Carol brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a consultant and educator. Carol’s vast experience, including supporting individuals with disabilities in home and community based environments, combines a broad perspective and practical approaches to health and wellness consulting and training to benefit your agency.


Leane Brown, Program Services Consultant/QDDP
Leane has experience in managing ICF/MR programs assisting individuals with various diagnoses and needs as well as unique experience in aiding in the inception of Minnesota’s first home specifically for adolescents with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. She graduated from Clarke College and applies her combined studies in psychology and drama/speech with her first hand experiences to facilitate interactive, dynamic, and relevant training.


Becky Eikmeier, Program Services Consultant/QDDP

Becky began her career in Human Services as direct support staff in an ICF/MR and has since had experiences supporting children and adults with various diagnoses.  Becky combines her BS in Psychology and her experiences as an ICF/MR program manager, director of a DTH, and 22 years as a licensor with the Department of Human Services to create practical applications of the rules and regulations that are vital to providing effective and compliant services. 


Angie Hart, Operations Director/QDDP
Angie Hart has over 15 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a BS in Biology. Through her work as a corporate trainer and consultant, Angie has assisted companies with compliance issues and program development. Angie utilizes her experience as a direct support professional, QMRP, Manager of an ICF/MR, and Director of ICF-MR and Waivered Services to teach human service professionals the “ins and outs” of 245B, as well as leading and managing staff in social services. Angie’s presentations will enhance your understanding of the subject and teach you valuable information to enrich your company’s current practices.


Lindsey Kimber, Operational Supports Manager/QDDP
Lindsey Kimber has over 10 years of experience working in the human service field. She graduated from Bemidji State University with a BS in Applied Psychology and Hamline University with a Master's degree in Business Administration. Lindsey has experience working with adolescents and adults in the fields of mental health, chemical dependency, and developmental disabilities. Her other experiences include direct support, counseling, management, and the development and implementation of new programs.


Alison Nelson, Educational Services Manager/QDDP
Alison has 10 years of experience in human services and has supported children and adults with developmental disabilities, mental illness and traumatic brain injuries in ICF/MR and Waivered residential and in-home settings. A graduate of the College of St. Catherine, Alison combines her education and her first hand work experiences as a direct support professional, Designated Coordinator and Case Manager/Service Coordinator to create practical applications and a meaningful training experience.


Sarah Stein, Program Services Consultant/QDDP
Sarah has a BA in Psychology and an AA in Medical Administrative Assistance. She has worked as a Designated Coordinator in residential settings and as a program manager for a vocational provider. With 10 years of experience working in the field of developmental disabilities, Sarah fully understands the training requirements and needs of direct care and management level staff. Sarah has a natural talent for helping participants improve their skills, confidence, and effectiveness.


John Walton, Training Manager
John has over 15 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities and has spent the past number of years teaching a wide variety of classes at STAR. He is a certified American Heart Association instructor in First Aid and CPR, and is an approved Physical Intervention instructor. John’s style of teaching and his personal stories add interest and realism to his classes. Over the years, John has had the privilege of training thousands of new and experienced direct support professionals.


Mark Winters, Consulting Services Manager/QDDP
Mark has firsthand experience as a direct support professional and as a manager in ICF/MRs,  Supported Living Services, and vocational settings. A graduate of the College of St. Scholastica, Mark applies his study of psychology and organizational behavior with his social services experience. Forthright and knowledgeable, Mark is known for his ability to take complex information and present it in a way that is easy to understand and apply.


Heidi Wolverton, Human Resources Administrator/SPHR
Heidi’s experience includes hands-on application of Department of Labor standards, risk management practices, payroll, and documentation requirements. Her focus is keeping up to date on ever changing legislation and how those changes affect employers. She has a BA in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Heidi is also a 2010 recipient of Senior Professional Human Resource certification.
