STAR Services Professional Training
Are you looking for comprehensive, professional training and education for you and your staff? If you are, then STAR Services is the place to be! Each month, STAR offers a unique variety of training and education classes that meet your needs. Our classes are designed to apply to all individuals working in field including direct support professionals, managers, and Designated Coordinators/QDDPs. In addition, STAR Services offers specialized classes for human resource and finance staff, owners, and executives.
TrainingOur core training classes are designed to enhance a staff person’s knowledge of the human service basics. Topics include:
- A Day in the Life - meets requirements for Individual Consumer Rights, Vulnerable Adult Act and Maltreatment of Minors Act, MN Data Privacy Act, and HIPAA
- Alternative Intervention Techniques - meets requirements on aversive and deprivation procedures and Rule 40
- American Heart Association Heartsaver® First Aid - meets requirements for first aid training
- American Heart Association Heartsaver® Adult CPR - meets requirements for CPR training
- Medication Administration Basics - meets requirements for medication administration training
- Lifting and Transferring - risk management course
These classes fulfill the requirements of the Consolidated Standards (245B) and Adult Foster Care. Many providers choose to use these classes to meet the orientation and ongoing statutory requirements for staff as well as develop their understanding of the field of disabilities. All instructors have extensive experience in the field of disabilities and are passionate about sharing this experience and their knowledge of regulatory standards. Because of this, your staff will leave the class feeling empowered to perform their job duties to the best of their ability! Classes are offered at different times throughout the week, including day, evening and weekend hours at our St. Paul, MN location. The varying times of classes enable your staff to take a class while still maintaining their work schedule. If sending staff to our St. Paul office is too inconvenient due the distance, STAR Services’ instructors can come to you! Management-Level EducationAbove and beyond our training classes, STAR Services offers specialized, in depth management-level education classes geared to enhancing the knowledge of Minnesota rules and regulations of those persons responsible for implementation for your company. Not only does STAR provide the necessary information for this, we also enable you through example and instruction on positive and effective methods for application at your company. Residential and vocational providers will both benefit from these classes. After these classes, your staff will be prepared to take the knowledge they gain back to their workplace and apply it!

This amazing 3 day course offers your lead staff, managers, Designated Coordinators/QDDPs the opportunity to learn the “ins and outs” of Minnesota rules and regulations (with a focus on the Consolidated Standards)! Our Foundations for Success trainings are provided in several cities around Minnesota throughout the year. Providers have often asked STAR, “Do you ever do training in Brainerd? Bemidji? Marshall? Duluth?” The answers is YES! We come to you with four of STAR’s most requested and popular classes. How is this different than the large, national training companies? Our classes are designed for Minnesota providers and contain all up to date and relevant information that apply to you and your company. All instructors have extensive experience in the field and strive to get you the information you need to improve your services. Some of our greatest contacts with providers and staff are through specifically requested trainings that are provided at their site.
